The general objective of the project is the evaluation of a new process for the transformation of agri-food by-products and wastes that allows their valorization through the production of insect meal or its by-products (hydrolyzed protein, fat extracts and organic fertilizers).

ACUINSECT addresses the study and use of proteins from insects. In its study phase, the effect of this protein source on feed characteristics will be examined and an optimal raw material for feeding fish will be obtained and tested for validation in two species: sea bream and sea bass.
The ACUINSECT project is implemented on the basis of the Order of September 7, 2021, which calls for subsidies in R+D+i, within the scope of national aquaculture plans, for groups of entities that carry out research projects in this area (BOE No. 219 of 13/09/2021), of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, with the support of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF).
